EAU 2026 European Delegation Recap

EAU 2026 European Delegation Recap

The team of EAU has traveled to Germany, France and Belgium to create or take care of very important relations with the European people. With the pro-Ukrainian associations, with political leaders, but first and foremost with ordinary citizens, to empower them to help Ukraine. Citizens can do a lot and have a big impact on the decisions that their representatives are making.

Improved defense capabilities via collaboration among European and Ukrainian partners, facilitated by our allied Defense Tech for Ukraine nonprofit.

Delegation Wins by the Numbers:

  • 2 new policy papers (DE and FR) created. Top DE Ukraine priorities identified. Opportunities to create collaboration between the DE and US government identified for several projects, most notably to build Patriot missiles in Europe
  • 7 official meetings with German, and EU MPs.
  • 7 Meetings with German, EU and Belgian governmental representatives, including the Ukraine desk German and Belgian foreign ministry officers. This doesn’t count the many new contacts we made with influential policy aids and staffers at the Bundestag and European Parliament
  • 12 additional positive messages from MPs and other government officials suggesting a later time to meet
  • 6 Meetings with the heads of Pro-Ukraine organizations, including LibMod, the German Ukrainian Friendship Association, Alliance for European Security, and Vitsche in Germany and Promote Ukraine in Belgium
  • 22 new German, six new French, 2 new UK and 5 new Belgian EAU members

Most importantly, we learned from numerous Germans, French and Belgians that EAU’s mission to increase public pressure on the German, French and British parliaments is critically needed to support Ukraine’s war effort, and that there is no other group leading this incredibly important work.

Feb 10-16 at Munich Security Conference:

Carl Larson, Dave Black and other DTU and EAU leaders traveled to Germany to represent the European Action for Ukraine (EAU) and Defense Tech for Ukraine (DTU) NGOs for the 2026 Munich Security Conference (MSC). While in Munich, the EAU team attended a half dozen side events at the MSC, a 500 person pro-Ukraine rally, a European Defense Tech Horizon (EDTH) defense hackathon, a Ukraine World Congress event, and met with dozens of pro-Ukraine Europeans.

Feb 16-28 Advocating for Ukraine in Berlin

The European Action for Ukraine (EAU) delegation executed a high-impact advocacy week in Berlin, strategically timed to coincide with pivotal budget debates in the German Bundestag. Building on their “battle-tested” Washington D.C. model, the team engaged in a series of intensive briefings with foreign policy spokespeople and members of the Defence Committee to push for sustained military aid and the expansion of the “Ukraine Connect” financial instrument. A highlight of the week was the group’s presence at the Cafe Kyiv conference, where EAU leaders joined German lawmakers to discuss a new European-led defense strategy, emphasizing that the security of Berlin is inextricably linked to the victory in Kyiv.

Policy Position papers

EAU developed French and German policy papers and delivered them to the lawmakers met in numerous meetings.

Cafe Kyiv

The Cafe Kyiv conference is the largest pro-Ukraine conference outside of Ukraine. Every year 5000+ visitors meet to learn, share and act for Ukraine’s freedom. EAU was proud to speak at the 2026 Café Kyiv event about the impact of the ACU (American Coalition for Ukraine) on American support for Ukraine, and the necessity for European citizens to benefit from this experience to grow their own advocacy in each country.

Pro-Ukraine Gatherings in Berlin

We were also invited to a conference organized by LibMod, a prominent think tank associated with the Green political party. The German Greens have been at the forefront of German support for Ukraine. The topic of the event was the management of innovation in the Ukrainian military.

But our most impactful moments in Berlin were our meetings with three members of the German Parliament, the Bundenstag: Mr Shaefer, Mr. Hofreiter and Ms. Mueller from the Green party. These meetings have brought us very valuable lessons on the functioning of the political system in Germany.

Meeting German MP Sebastian Schaefer

Prominent Ukrainian-German NGO Vitsche, one of our partners, used the occasion to ask precise and important questions of MP Hofreiter. We are happy to be a bridge between Ukrainian associations and political parties.

In Brussels for the European Parliament

The EAU team spent a week in Brussels, Belgium, one of the two headquarters of the European Union EU, meeting with members of the European Parliament, other government officials, pro Ukraine NGOs, pro-Ukraine Belgians, and many members of the Ukrainian diaspora in Belgium.

Our meetings with members of the European Parliament were very instructive. We benefit from their experience and perspective to better help Ukraine.

We were also lucky enough to be accompanied by some local members of the foreign ministry of Belgium, including the head of the Ukraine department. Names redacted to ensure their privacy. More excellent intel gathered on how things really work in Belgium.

The European Policy Center

European Policy Center (EPIC) is a privately-funded Belgian think tank dedicated to dedicated to European Union affairs and integration. It serves as a major hub for policy debate, strategic analysis, and influence within the “Brussels bubble.”

EAU attended two EPIC events, one on public planning for future generations in Europe and the other on the security on the Baltic sea

The European Policy Center

EPIC is but one of the many influential think tanks int he greater Brussels area providing high-level analysis and influence on European policy. The group demonstrates the need for a robust public presence in Brussels to gather information to better push pro-Ukraine policies at the EU.

Meeting the Ukrainian diaspora of Belgium

While in Brussels, the EAU crew made it a priority to meet with 9+ Ukrainians living in the area. All were working in some capacity to help Ukraine, and all were appreciative of EAU and supportive of the mission.

The Solidarity Café

Our last event was the Solidarity café, where we met a Ukrainian net manufacturer, an adviser to members of the European Parliament and many other active Ukrainians.

It was the perfect event to finish our trip, with the Ukrainians of birth and heart.

За Перемогу! To the victory!
