Am Anfang stand ein einfacher Gedanke: Was wäre, wenn alle, die in Deutschland die Ukraine unterstützen, das nicht mehr allein tun – sondern gemeinsam? Aus dieser Idee wurde Cafe Kyiv. Ein Ort. Ein Symbol. Eine Strategie. Heute erzähle ich, wie daraus kollektives Handeln wurde – und warum es funktioniert hat.

It started with a simple thought: What if everyone who supports Ukraine in Germany didn’t act alone, but together? That idea became Cafe Kyiv. A space. A symbol. A strategy. Today, I’ll share how we turned shared conviction into collective action – and why it worked.

Speaker: Dr. Kristin Wesemann
Dr. Kristin Wesemann is a renowned expert in public communications and strategic planning at the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (Foundation) in Berlin. Head of the Foundation’s Strategy and Planning Department, Dr. Kristin developed civil society platforms in support of critical policy objectives, such as the “Café Kyiv – We Choose Freedom” conference driving increased German support for Ukraine. She previously led KAS offices in Argentina and Uruguay, and worked for several years at the Presidential Academy of Public Administration in Odessa, Ukraine. She received her PhD for a dissertation on political extremism, after studying in Berlin, Potsdam, and at Johns Hopkins University (SAIS). Dr. Wesemann grew up in East Germany, and this life experience turned the fight for freedom into her mission. In the coming months Dr. Wesemann is preparing to lead the KAS office in Colombia.
